College Tour - An Adventure?
I have been slacking big time on my adventures! I know it's only the 5th day of the year, but I feel like I should have done more by now. However (!!!), I did tour a college that my daughter will hopefully be attending at the end of the year. We toured the beautiful campus the day after Christmas and our tour guide was this bubbly vivacious second year student who happens to be on the dance team. Score! My daughter wants to join the dance team, so they had a nice conversation.
I don't know if this exactly counts as an adventure, but it is a place I have never encountered before. Sure, I took college tours when I was in High School, but that was in the dark ages. Now I was touring a school my CHILD wants to go to! Where did the years go???
I do have a small adventure up my sleeve this month though. We're going to Mystic, Connecticut in a couple of weeks. It's sort of a yearly trip for us, so obviously we have been there before, but maybe I'll find something new to do there. Stay tuned!

My Year Of Adventures
I recently finished reading All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. While I am not sure how I feel about the book, it did give me some ideas. First of all, I felt the book was an abomination when dealing with mental illness. We were told, rather than shown, about Finch and Violet's depression. As every writer knows (except maybe Jennifer Niven), this is a big NO when writing. I know the book was praised by so many people and it is being made into a movie, but I personally felt like I wasted hours of my life reading it.
HOWEVER (and there is a bright spot, no pun intended), it did give me this idea. I want to make 2019 MY year. Finch and Violet go on these crazy adventures together and it seems so wonderful and beautiful. They explore hidden gems in Indiana, where they live, and it made me wonder what's in MY backyard.
2018 was amazing. I went to Costa Rica and Nashville, both for the first time. I went to my first NFL game. That obviously isn't a lot of "firsts," so I want to add to it. I will be doing this on a meager budget (very meager), so bear with me. It won't all be fun and games, but I will try to blog as much of my life as possible. Do people even read blogs anymore or is life all about YouTube now? Regardless, I guess I will find out!
Join me on my adventures!
